The images tremble, the sound recordings hiss slightly, the editing is chaotic: made with whatever tools were to hand, this experimental film is a five-year immersion in the world of the photographer Gérard Rancinan and the writer Caroline Gaudriault. There is no distance from the two authors, because there was no premeditation in making this film.
Vincent Tavernier stitched together, on the fly, fragments of intimacy, chance images and moments lived with complete spontaneity, to deliver the essence of the work of this original duo: a wild energy, a ferment of ideas, an emotion, a genuine “gunshot” unique to photography, writing as a constant provocation...to awakening.
