Elena is a still-life photographer. Her passion for objects comes from her father, one of Russia’s greatest ballet stars, who lived through the Iron Curtain under Brezhnev. She builds her imaginary journeys from all the things he sends her, objects that bring her closer to him. But her encounter with Sacha, also Russian, will mysteriously lead her to question these objects.
The Russian story takes her along the trail of the writer Mikhail Bulgakov and Soviet censorship, a secret love, and a pact with the Devil. The objects will prove to be very talkative. She must follow their revelations to the end in order to free herself and release the obsessions of everyone she loves.
